Katie Latisha

My name is Katie Latisha, I’m Gullah Geechee and Polish and I’m a Milwaukee born and raised fashion designer and beadwork artist. I started sewing at the early age of 8 on my grandmother’s Singer. I kept up with my design work throughout the years and graduated with a fashion design degree from Mount Mary University in 2019.

My inspiration comes from my grandmothers and great grandmother. While one of them taught me how to sew, the others taught me the importance of repurposing materials.

I also spend a lot of my time beading. Beading is a very intimate and delicate art form; it is medicine. I taught myself how to bead in 2018 to reconnect with my cultures and ancestors.

Katie Latisha, as a brand, is a tribute to my ancestors and, most importantly, my grandmothers. This brand was officially created in the early months of 2022.

A tribute to my grandmothers.
